Laurie joined Trow & Rahal in 2007 as an Of Counsel attorney. She has been practicing immigration and nationality law for over ten years specializing in representing athlete riders, trainers, and managers in all the major horse sports (show jumping, dressage, eventing, fox hunting, polo, and the Western disciplines.) Prior to joining Trow & Rahal, Laurie worked as an attorney at law firms in New York and Washington, D.C. She also served as a Latin American Affairs specialist for the U.S. Agency for International Development during the Reagan Administration.
Laurie received her J.D. / M.B.A. degree from the School of Law and Anderson School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles, in 1981. In addition, she earned a degree in international business from the Ecole Supierieur des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (Higher School of Economic and Commercial Sciences) in Cergy-Pontoise, France. Laurie has a B.S. degree in Political Science/International Relations from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Laurie has a special interest in promoting conservation and protecting open space land. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) for more than 10 years and currently serves on PEC's Clarke County Advisory Board. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Historic Long Branch in Millwood, Virginia, as District Commissioner of the Blue Ridge Hunt Pony Club, and is Secretary of the Blue Ridge Hunt.
Laurie enjoys horses, dogs, riding, and spending time with her husband and daughter on their farm in Berryville, Virginia. She is fluent in Spanish.
